A coalition of Palestinian-Arab-Muslim and other concerned Canadians is urging Canada to join Spain, Ireland, Norway and more than 100 other world governments* in recognizing the State of Palestine.

“It's time for Canada to take up its traditional peacemaking role by recognizing the State of Palestine and promoting a sustainable peace with Israel,” today's statement emphasized.

“This step must be followed by an immediate ceasefire in the war on Gaza; an end to the siege of Gaza; an end to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza; and the permanent dismantling of the apartheid wall in the occupied West Bank.”

The statement concludes that the only alternative is a continuation of repeated cycles of violence, oppression, and genocide, which have decimated Palestinians for the past 75 years.
